About the project
A three-bedroom family home on an exposed coastal lot, built low and long to shelter a south-facing garden from the wind.
Site
The lot sits on a granite shelf facing the open Atlantic. Winter storms come from the north-east, so the house turns its back to them with a solid, shingled wall and opens fully to the south.
Design
A single gable runs the length of the house. Living spaces share one tall room under the ridge; bedrooms tuck into a lower wing.
Every window frames a specific view, and none of them faces the weather.
Materials
Cedar shingles, standing-seam zinc and a polished concrete floor that stores the low winter sun.
